1907, One Hundred And Two Years Ago

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.

But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...

We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language.. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Why is it that we (Government included) as Americans are not looking at it this way today? What in the world went wrong? After all we are still the United States Of America, are we not? I don't think anyone has ever voiced it better then Theodore Roosevelt did 102 years ago. God bless America!

Right on! I am totally with you on this one! I agree with Theodore Roosevelt completely. I keep saying the same thing to people and they agree but don't want to do anything about it. I hope people get tired of this politically correct stuff soon because I sure am. It is time we got back to the basics and that is to be Americans again with freedom of speech! I am not saying we should be mean or offend people but just say it like it is. Thank you for sharing this.

Have a wonderful day!

Love and Blessings,
